As I’ve mentioned before, while I’m not doing my ‘real’ work I’m at home working on my company. My company is called Tall Poppy Craft Products Pty Ltd, its a mail order internet company that offers handbag and purse making supplies for ladies that like to sew cute little handbags and coin purses at home. Its mainly catered towards people that have a hobby doing sewing on the weekends but there are also lots of small businesses that use my company for their supplies. I am usually up at about 9:30am (I know this sounds late for some people but keep in mind that I don’t finish my ‘real’ job until 10pm, don’t get home until 11pm, and then can’t really sleep until around 1am – 2am). Work on the business usually involves answering emails, processing orders, printing invoices, answering the phone, ringing people to check on things, ordering things and a lot of errand running. Luckily I have employed Tim’s mum who packs orders that come in. When we move to Tasmania I’ll packing orders myself (just like the old days when the business was first getting started). It will be good to start doing the packing again. I feel I have lost control to a certain extent. Even though the business is not the most efficient business in the world, when it was just me I had more of an all-round feel of what’s going on in the business – I don’t necessarily mean big things like knowing what products sell the most, I mean more like stupid little things like where I keep stationery and making mental notes for myself such as ‘I have to order X tomorrow’. I don’t have that grasp of where things are at as much as I did before. It’ll be good to get that back and become a real control freak again *evil laugh*.
