I’m going to see Amy Butler!
I’m going to see Amy Butler in person on the 20th of November! She’ll be giving a talk about what inspires her and how she started and all that sort of stuff. I think she will be answering people’s questions. I’m hoping that she will sign my Midwest Modern book. [I have ordered two of her other books from Amazon and will take these along for her to sign too – is that too groupy-ish?] There’s only going to be 85 people there apparently so its quite an intimate little gathering. The event is being hosted by Living Creatively (Kerrie-Anne Kennerly’s company) and they’re supplying canapés and drinks.
Tim is coming with me – he’s lived with put up with bolts of Amy Butler fabric in the dining room and I think he is semi-interested in the whole thing (or perhaps more interested in the free drinks!). Actually I am starting to get a little obsessed with the event and what to wear – I have decided to definitely take one of my Amy Butler bags (the now discontinued Covington bag made with her Ginger Bliss Lime Peel & Sepia fabric) but should I also make a top or dress made with Amy Butler fabric (is that too much? Will other people be wearing Amy Butler? I don’t want to be the only one who turns up dressed in Amy Butler). Anyway, I don’t have the time to sew up a top or dress. I have had a quick look on etsy to see if there is something made with Amy Butler fabric that I can buy. I found these two sellers: Boutique Mia and Little Green Swing – they can both make a top for me for the event. Although the fabrics are lovely I think they are too much for me to wear as a top or a dress because there is so much going on in the fabrics. My face might get completely drowned in all the colour. I’d usually go for all black – black top and black paints with black boots or black shoes. Maybe I should go out and buy something new. Maybe I should just wear something that I’ve got in my wardrobe. Oh my god. Its all too much.
